The swift action of three Metro Police officers saved the life of an elderly, disabled pensioner from Bonteheuwel and led to the arrest of his assailant.

The Metro Police officers rushed to the aid of the disabled Mr John Petersen [60] who was attacked outside his home in 63 Bluegum Street in Bonteheuwel.

According to Metro Police spokesman, Nowellen Petersen, a resident who witnessed the attack on Friday, 4 April alerted the Metro Police office in Bonteheuwel.

"They immediately rushed to the scene, investigated and arrested a 26-year-old man who is now in custody at the Bishop Lavis police station. The reason for the attack is not known," he said.
