Even though they suffered a resounding defeat at the hands of Zambia, the South African Soccer squad still managed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations finals in Ghana next year.

Zambia couldn't have hoped for a better start to the match, after finding the net thrice within the first 20 minutes of the game. All three goals came from Zambian captain, Chris Katongo.

Benedict McCarthy managed to salvage a goal off a neat header. It was the only goal for the South African team in the match.

Zambia found themselves reduced to 10 men for the final minutes of the match after Isaac Chansa received his second yellow-card. South African goal-scorer, McCarthy was himself lucky not to receive a red-card for carrying Chansa off the field shortly after the incident.

Despite being one man down, the Zambians still succeeded in keeping Bafana at bay.
