The leader of the Democratic Alliance and Mayor of the City of Cape Town, Helen Zille, has once again marched against the scourge of drugs and gangsterism in the community. On Sunday (17th February 2008) she marched in Macassar - one of the many Western Cape communities that are being ravaged by drug abuse and gangsterism.

In September last year, Zille was arrested for allegedly contravening the Public Gatherings Act when she marched for the same cause in the Mitchells Plain area. The charges against her were dropped shortly thereafter.

She has also participated in marches against gangsterism and drugs in other poverty-stricken communities on the Cape Flats.
