Charges of theft has seen Bellville-based recruitment company "Live and Work in London" having to shut its doors.

Though the company's website,, was still active and appears to be seeking new clients at the time of writing this article, a call made to the contact number displayed on the site led to a prerecorded message which stated that calls could not be answered due to "unforseen circumstances".

A message purportedly written by the owner of the company and is still displayed on the site states that "If your application was unsuccessful - as visas don't come from a shelf - we will schedule a refund. This repayment can take up to 60 working days as is clearly stated in the contract you accepted". One complainant however, who paid the agency almost R15000 to send her daughter to the United Kingdom has had no choice but to go to the police after the company failed to deliver on its promise to reimburse her made almost a year ago. At the Bellville police station she was told that she wasn't the only person who had laid charges against the company.

A senior official at the Bellville police station confirmed that the owner of the company had previously been arrested for theft and has been released on bail. He also stated that the company is under investigation by the police.
