The City of Cape Town's ten worst current traffic offenders have recorded over 717 warrants of arrest.

According to the Chairperson of the City's Finance Portfolio Committee, Cllr Ian Iversen, these ten culprits are all drivers of mini-bus taxis which cannot currently be traced.

"These vehicles are registered as Toyota mini-busses, but the addresses are incorrect. Traffic Services are ready to pounce on them, but need more information," he says.

The top culprit, CA 488 281 has 86 warrants, followed by CA 361 318 with 83 warrants. The driver of CY 186 871 is number ten on the list with 61 warrants. The other seven registration numbers are: CA 192 536, CA 644 071, CA 546 979, CA 184 293, CA 265 685, CA 163 983 and CF 375 59.

"We call on residents to provide any information which could assist Traffic Services in rounding up these offenders to the Metro Police Control Centre at 0860 765 423.

"The City of Cape Town is committed to promote road safety by encouraging road users to abide by the law. These culprits may think they are getting away with their transgressions for now, but the City will not relent in its endeavours to catch them," Cllr Iversen said.
