On Friday morning, Constable Mbulelo Gola was busy patrolling in Old Faure Road, close to the Driftsand informal settlement. He noticed a red BMW that was parked on the yellow line on the N2 in the direction of Somerset West. As he was driving towards the N2 to investigate why the car was parking on the yellow line, he saw three black males jumping over the wall barrier on the N2 and robbing the occupants of the red BMW.

Officer Gola stopped his patrol vehicle and ran over to the scene on the N2 and gave chase after the three suspects who were running in the direction of Site C in Khayelitsha. He managed to catch up with one of the three suspects and arrest him. The suspect was later identified as one of the suspects who robbed the two occupants of the red BMW. The two occupants, Mr Nico Barnard and a female partner, both from Benoni, opened a robbery case (Case no 982/03/2008) at the Khayelitsha Site B police station. The arrested suspect showed the Metro Police where the other two suspects live and both were arrested. All three suspects are held at the Khayelitsha Site B police station for robbery.
