Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) will on Tuesday release the results of the 2007 community survey 2007 for all municipalities in the country.

According to Stats SA, the results will focus on the performance of the municipalities with respect to the Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP).

The survey collected demographic, geographic, social and economic data at municipal level with the aim of assessing the impact of socio-economic policies.

The results will also reveal how far the country has gone in its strides to eradicate poverty and to measure service delivery levels.

In February 2007, a large-scale Community Survey was conducted in all provinces.
The results showed that little more than 60 percent of households in South Africa had access to a flush toilet.

Gauteng, Free State, North West and Western Cape were the only provinces where more than 50 percent of households owned a flush toilet.

Free State had the highest number of households still using the bucket system.

More than half of the households in Limpopo (56.3 percent) used a pit latrine without ventilation, and 25.2 percent of households in Eastern Cape had no toilets at all. - BuaNews
